Week In Review: June 15 – 21 | Safe & Strong Communities

When I was injured, I worried that I had lost my purpose in life. You see, I had intended to spend my entire career fighting to defend our country in the Army. So, when I woke up in Walter Reed without my legs, I had to come to grips with the fact that I would never be an asset on the battlefield again.

But after some great advice from my father, I realized that I couldn’t let my physical limitations change my purpose. Today, I see my mission in Congress the same as I saw it in the military: to keep our country and community safe.

This week I’ve continued the fight for clean water and we passed more than 20 bills to combat the opioid epidemic. We also passed legislation to combat terrorism and defend seniors from fraud.

Each of these bipartisan accomplishments will help strengthen our community. But there is a lot more work to be done. Watch this week’s video for an update on the ongoing fight for our water, the work being done to combat the crisis at the border and more.
