PASSED: Bill To Protect The Everglades

July 22, 2020 | Blog, Environment, The Tortured Coast

Great news! → Congress just passed the bipartisan Great American Outdoors Act to support our national parks – including the Everglades – and make funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) permanent.

Over the last 50 years, the LWCF has invested more than $1 billion in the state of Florida, including $34 million in Martin, St. Lucie and Palm Beach Counties. This funding has played a critical role in our fight to restore the Everglades!

The Great American Outdoors Act is a monumental piece of legislation and a bipartisan triumph that will protect our public lands and protect our environment for generations to come. I could not be more excited that this bill is now on its way to President Trump’s desk to become law!
