Decriminalize Marijuana at the Federal Level

April 1, 2022 | Blog, Jobs

I’m a firm believer that the federal government has no business in our local businesses. That goes for marijuana businesses, too.

That is why I voted for the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act (MORE Act), which would decriminalize marijuana at the federal level and regulate it similar to how alcohol is treated.  If a state wants to allow entrepreneurs to sell marijuana, the federal government should not stand in its way.

I believe in upholding the Constitution.  The Constitution clearly outlines that anything not explicitly laid out in those pages should be handled by the states.  The Constitution says nothing about marijuana, so it should be left to the states.

I’m hopeful that my colleagues in the Senate will share that perspective and send it to the President’s desk.
