For years, I’ve been pushing the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to admit that the uniformed and civilian personnel stationed at Port Mayaca are being poisoned by their working conditions.  For years, the top brass has continued to deny it.

But now, we’ve got even more proof.  Brain Chemistry Labs recently released a study that linked airborne toxins around Lake Okeechobee to a host of medical conditions, including ALS.

Failing to accept responsibility for the wellbeing of those under their command is a dereliction of duty.  Since the head of the Army Corps won’t own up to it, I fought to pass an amendment that will record exposure to these toxins in personnel files, so if Army Corps employees face health problems down the road, they won’t have to fight to link those conditions to their service.
