Stop Spying On The American People

April 12, 2024 | Blog, Government Reform

Today, the House of Representatives voted on reauthorizing section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act — also known as FISA.  This law gives the government unchecked spy powers to collect the emails, phone calls, and text messages of foreign intelligence threats.

Given FISA’s broad nature, the private information of American citizens is often scooped up along with that of foreign nationals.  We’ve seen this power weaponized against U.S. citizens time and again by far-left bureaucrats masquerading as national security officials at the NSA and FBI.

FISA is supposed to target foreign nationals with ties to terrorist groups, like ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and Hezbollah.  Instead, it’s being used to unfairly spy on hardworking Americans right here at home.

This goes against our Constitution, which says that the government cannot conduct an unreasonable search and seizure of your property without a warrant.

Let’s make that CRYSTAL CLEAR: your government DOES NOT have the constitutional power to spy on you — especially if they don’t have a warrant!

That’s why I voted NO on reauthorizing Section 702 of FISA.  The privacy of everyday Americans is not something we can take for granted!

I will continue to fend off your government from spying on you.
