For decades, our nation watched as factories shut their doors, American jobs were shipped overseas, and our once-thriving manufacturing industry collapsed. But we have a chance to change course.
Implementing tariffs on imports incentivizes manufacturing in the United States, supports American job creation, and consequently increases payroll tax contributions, which are crucial for the solvency of programs such as Social Security and Medicaid.
When we created Social Security, we made a commitment to our seniors, one we must uphold. To ensure Social Security remains solvent, the way forward is to adopt America First policies that support workers and industry. Revitalizing American industry will ensure our economic independence and guarantee the integrity of our critical social safety nets for generations.
