Week in Review: Big refunds, overdue paychecks, & clean water

March 28, 2026 | Blog, Week In Review

No overtime taxes for an E.R. nurse in Palm City, permanent child tax credits for a Port St. Lucie mom, and a retiree in Jupiter was shocked after not seeing a refund in decades. 2026’s tax season is here and from across our district, I heard that your money is going exactly where it belongs—back into your bank account. The One Big Beautiful Bill is working, and if you haven’t taken my survey about your experience, take it now.

It has also been more than 40 days since our TSA officers have received a paycheck. Democrats have kept Homeland Security shut down in order to score political points. Their decision has put the livelihoods of FEMA agents, men and women of the Coast Guard, and all those who work for DHS at risk, and it’s unfathomable.

I share my thoughts on the situation in this edition of Week in Review.

P.S. On the floor this week, we advanced legislation that extends funding for our estuary and coastline restoration efforts through 2031. With set guardrails to ensure we see results, it’s one more step forward in our fight for clean water that I’m proud to support.
