More than 400 national parks stretch across this country, from battlefields where history was made, to the homes of presidents and innovators, and landscapes you can't find anywhere else on earth. At home, that includes Florida’s treasured Everglades. 

Today, August 25th the National Park Service turns 110, and they’re marking the celebration with an entrance fee-free day for all U.S. citizens. This is a great way to get out and experience the beauty of this great nation.

Also, I want to highlight, earlier this year, the House passed the Law Enforcement Officer Recreation Pass Act. It gives law enforcement officers and firefighters, from federal agents to tribal officers, the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass for free, for life. We depend on these men and women to keep our streets safe, respond to emergencies, and at times risk their own lives for our communities. This is a small way to say thank you.

Our parks belong to the American people. They are a part of our American story, and each of them deserve our stewardship for generations to come.
