I was back in Washington for another busy week! 

This week, my favorite piece of legislation for our water—the Water Resources Development Act—came to the House floor. I’m proud that several of my priorities for our communities made it into the bill and passed the House. My first amendment requires that the U.S. Army Corps show their work every time they dump Lake Okeechobee water into the St. Lucie. Another amendment states clearly what the purpose of the EAA Reservoir is for the first time—ending the harmful discharges to the St. Lucie, the Caloosahatchee, and the Lake Worth Lagoon. Nobody can come in yeas from now and change what we fought for and why. Next stop is the U.S. Senate.

It's also National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. Just about everything you bought today got there on a truck, and in Florida that’s more than 450,000 jobs. These are good paying jobs that should be going to Americans and that’s why I introduced the Freedom Haulers Act—so the veterans who drove heavy trucks for the military can get their CDL back home without sitting through the same tests all over again.
