To this day, no one has been held accountable for the failed withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Even when the withdrawal conducted by the Biden Administration killed 13 American servicemembers and lost $7.1 billion in military equipment, there was ZERO accountability.  Not one senior official has been fired or resigned.

As the chair of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight and Accountability, I’m committed to forcing the Biden Administration to take responsibility and to getting to the bottom of this tragedy.  Americans deserve answers.

That is why yesterday I asked Secretary of State Blinken to commit to transparency surrounding the Afghanistan withdrawal.  And - not surprisingly - he refused.

He may continue to try and stonewall a co-equal branch of government, but our work will not stop.  This is not a political posturing - it’s an effort to make America stronger and more secure.  And for millions of veterans who served in Afghanistan, like myself, it's an assurance that our sacrifices weren’t in vain.
