Breaking through all of the hot air coming from the swamp this week, I wanted to share a couple bits of good news on our efforts to protect our waterways:

  • The House passed the Local Water Protection Act that I wrote with Congresswoman Angie Craig.  This bipartisan bill will reauthorize and strengthen an EPA grant program that provides funds for states to reduce water pollution.

  • Congressman Don Beyer and I introduced the National Ocean Coastal Security Improvements Act, which seeks to support our coastal communities’ ability to prepare and respond to a variety of threats like hurricanes.

The Army Corps also continued their work this week to pick a new management plan for Lake Okeechobee that will determine the frequency of toxic discharges into our community for the next decade.  You can learn more and share your opinion here.
