Last week, the Palm Beach County School Board announced a new policy that limits parent participation in school board meetings.  This is absolutely unacceptable and likely unconstitutional.  It also highlights a broader problem: parents are being cut out of their kids’ education.

After having a front row seat to their children’s curriculum throughout the pandemic, parents are standing up and demanding accountability from administrators. The administrators aren’t happy about it, and they’re abusing their power to keep parents out.

That’s why we need to pass the Parents’ Bill of Rights.  This legislation would guarantee parents’ right to engage with their local schools, giving them the ability to review the reading materials and school budgets.

I don’t know a single parent who wants to co-parent with the federal government.  It’s time to make sure that parents are heard when it comes to their kids.
