Florida’s waterways are home to some of the best fishing in the world, including right here in our backyard. People come from across the country to take their friends and family fishing in our waters, and it is one of the things I love most about where we live.

The fishing industry is also one of the lifebloods of our coastal economy. That’s why I helped pass a new bill called the Young Fisherman’s Development Act to preserve our fishing heritage and encourage the next generation to take the reins.

This legislation will provide $2 million in grants each year to teach the next generation the skill they need - seamanship, navigation, sustainable fishing, entrepreneurship, risk management and more - to be successful in this industry.
