Floridians have been very clear: energy production near our shoreline is a nonstarter.

Not only could it threaten national security by impacting operations at the Gulf Test Range, but it could negatively affect what makes the Sunshine State special - our water and our beaches. Nobody wants to see a repeat of the Deepwater Horizon, and nobody wants our picture-perfect views obstructed by windmills.

I’ve got good news: today, the House of Representatives considered legislation to fund the Department of the Interior, and included in that bill was a moratorium on any offshore wind development in Florida.

We need to take every possible measure to protect our state, and this is an important step forward.  Now it’s time to work in a bipartisan way to keep building on that progress.  As always, I’ll keep you updated.
