They don’t call it the “land of the free” for nothing.  The Constitution is very clear: any right not given to the government belongs to the people.  That includes the right to cook your food with whatever appliance you want.

In January, the Consumer Product Safety Commissioner Richard Trumka Jr. proposed a ban on gas stoves, calling them a “hidden hazard” and saying “any option is on the table.”  President Biden’s Department of Energy is also eyeing a possibility to add restrictions for tighter efficiency standards for gas stoves and ovens.

Only 8 percent of Floridians use gas stoves, so it’s tempting to say that this isn’t a problem for our community.  But the reality is that this is a waste of time, and it’s a waste of your tax dollars.  It’s government overreach and inefficiency at its worst.

We need to stop it in its tracks.  Today it’s stoves, but tomorrow it could be grills, and the Fourth of July in Florida is over as we know it.  That’s why I voted to pass two bills to stop the Biden Administration from trying to tell you how to cook your dinner and make it clear that we won’t tolerate these ridiculous big government mandates.

It’s an honor to serve you, and know that I’ll keep fighting for limited government and the rights of every American.
