I’m not going to sugarcoat it: this has been a frustrating week filled with partisanship and a complete lack of leadership coming from the Army Corps.

The Army Corps Chief of Engineers Scott Spellmon testified to Congress this week and had the gall to claim that his personnel were not being put at risk despite being exposed to toxins from harmful algal blooms for hours every day.

As you remember, he admitted just 2 years ago that he knew the Army Corps had been discharging toxic water into our communities. These toxins are airborne and can travel up to 10 miles.  His personnel are stationed just feet away from the toxic water.

I am determined to hold the Army Corps responsible for their complete lack of leadership on this issue.
