During the catastrophic withdrawal from Afghanistan, President Biden left behind advanced military equipment and took no responsibility.  The result was the most well-armed Taliban in the history of the Taliban.

To add insult to injury, it’s now alleged that President Biden wants to force those who were on the ground to foot the bill for his decision.

According to a social media post, a separating member of the 82nd Airborne Division was charged $3,561 for military equipment he was ordered to leave behind.  There is no doubt - servicemembers shouldn’t have to pay for following orders from the Commander-in-Chief.

If this allegation is true, this is just the latest example of the Biden Administration’s refusal to take accountability for the botched withdrawal.  That is why my colleagues and I wrote a letter to Secretary Austin asking for clarification on how much is owed for lost equipment during the withdrawal, and how effective the Department of Defense has been in tracking the reported missing equipment.

Our nation is built and held together by the men and women in uniform who put their lives on the line to protect and defend our country and the Constitution.  President Biden must stop considering them as his political pawns and can’t be allowed to throw them under the bus when they don’t fit his narrative.
