WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Congressman Brian Mast (FL - 21) called on the Federal Trade Commission to probe the parent company of online retailer Temu over its ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

"Whether it’s Tiktok or Temu, behind these friendly English words, hide three nefarious letters — CCP," said Congressman Mast, a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. "We need to be clear, if you’re a company operating within the U.S., you don’t get to hide your links to the Chinese Communist Party. That’s why I’m asking the FTC to probe Temu’s parent company for their links to the CCP and their questionable business practices."

Congressman Mast highlighted his concerns about Temu in a letter sent to the Federal Trade Commission urging the agency to open up an investigation. In particular, Congressman Mast wants to see the FTC probe whether Temu’s marketing efforts in the U.S. have been subsidized by communist China.
