The Fight Continues

If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again.  That’s been my motto as I’ve pushed the Biden Administration and my Democrat colleagues in Congress to fully fund Everglades restoration.

I urged President Biden to include $725 million for Everglades restoration in his budget request.  He didn’t.

I requested that the House Appropriations Committee fund the program in full.  They didn’t.

This week, I offered an amendment to the Energy and Water spending bill to increase the funding to a total of $725 million.  House Democrats blocked the amendment.

This funding is critical because it empowers the Army Corps to expedite construction of the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) Southern Storage Reservoir and finish other projects that will restore the Everglades.

That’s why it’s disappointing that repeated efforts to get the necessary resources for this program have been blocked by Democrats in Congress and the Administration, but I will continue to fight for this critical funding!
