Supporting our servicemembers, veterans, and their families is a responsibility we all share and it means ensuring they receive the benefits, recognition, and care they deserve.

This year in Congress, we focused on one simple mission — delivering for the men and women who defend our freedoms. From passing this year’s National Defense Authorization Act to providing better and more accessible help at the VA, I’m proud of the steps we took to take care of our military.

I’m also especially proud of my new legislation to honor servicemembers killed in action. The Final Honors Act gives families who have lost a family member in the line of duty the option to honor their loved ones in our Capitol’s Rotunda, and it gives our nation the chance to recognize their service and sacrifice.

Supporting our servicemembers and veterans is about more than programs and policies — it’s about respect, gratitude, and action. By improving access to services and creating opportunities to honor those who served, we can better uphold our responsibility to the men and women who defend our freedoms.
