Following the tragic events of 9/11, Congress made major changes to keep Americans safe when they fly. But in the nearly two decades since then, the threats to our safety have evolved, and it’s time to make sure aviation safety is keeping up.

Here’s the good news: the House recently passed the Emerging Transportation Security Threats Act to ensure the United States has the tools and resources needed to protect against potential threats. Specifically, this bill will help bring the TSA and intelligence agencies together in a unified effort to combat threats to air travel safety and better protect Americans.

Protecting our homeland from the security threats of the 21st Century is a never-ending task, but I’m hopeful that this legislation will help keep Americans safe in the air.
