When I came to Congress, I promised to always protect the benefits that America’s seniors have earned. With the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill, we delivered on that promise in a big way. This historic legislation safeguards social security, strengthens Medicare, and gives our seniors one of the largest tax breaks in decades.

How does it protect our seniors? Let’s break it down:

PUTTING MORE MONEY IN SENIORS’ POCKETS

For too long, retirees on fixed incomes were crushed by Biden-era inflation. This bill will deliver relief for our seniors with up to a $6,000 deduction for individuals and $12,000 for married couples—on top of the standard deduction. As a result, nearly 88 percent of social security beneficiaries will pay no federal income tax on their benefits. This means lower taxes and more breathing room for seniors who spent their lives working hard and playing by the rules.

PROTECTING SOCIAL SECURITY & MEDICARE

This bill does not cut a single cent from Medicare benefits or social security. Instead, it cuts down on waste, fraud, and abuse to protect the benefits seniors rely on while ensuring they remain solvent for future generations. The Left’s scare tactics are completely baseless—nothing in this bill reduces care or slashes benefits for seniors.

The One Big Beautiful bill is a victory for our seniors, our families, and our nation’s future — and I was proud to vote YES.
