Earlier today, my bill, the Medal of Sacrifice Act, advanced in a markup with the House Committee on the Judiciary. After speeches from some of the bill’s cosponsors, I’m proud to share that the bill passed through the committee unanimously.

The Medal of Sacrifice posthumously honors America’s law enforcement officers that were killed in the line of duty. This May, I had the opportunity to join families from our community when President Trump awarded the medals for the first time. The medals were presented to the families of Deputy Ralph “Butch” Waller, Deputy Ignacio “Dan” Diaz, and Deputy Luis Paez—three Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputies killed in November of 2024.

Next, the bill will be considered on the House floor before it can move to the Senate and then the President’s desk. I’ll keep you updated every step of the way.
