Protecting clean water isn't optional
Protecting clean water has been my top priority since I first came to Congress. It’s an issue that affects public health, the environment, and Florida’s way of life. While meaningful progress has been made, ensuring safe and reliable water for our communities remains ongoing work.
This year, I re-introduced three pieces of legislation to address toxic contaminants in Florida’s waterways: the Stop Poisoning Florida Act, the Toxic Health Threat Warning Act, and the PROTECT Florida Act. These bills are simple — our home should not be exposed to substances that pose risks to human health. If you wouldn’t put it in the bathtub with your kids, it shouldn’t be in our communities.
The work to safeguard clean water is far from finished, but the progress made so far reflects what can be achieved when communities, experts, and policymakers work together to protect a resource that is essential to Florida’s future.
You can hear about all of this and more in this year’s water Year in Review here.
