Mast Grills South Florida Water Management District on Lake Okeechobee Management Decisions at South Florida Ecosystem Restoration Task Force Meeting
Task Force Creates Working Group To Review Wet and Dry Season Management Decisions
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Brian Mast (FL-18) today testified at the South Florida Ecosystem Restoration Task Force Meeting in Washington, D.C. and continued to demand answers from water management officials on the decisions that have led to the toxic discharges destroying the Treasure Coast.
“Water is being held on Lake Okeechobee not just as it relates to risk management but as it relates to the benefit of a number of other entities to the detriment of an epicenter of population. This issue absolutely needs to be addressed in the short term. This is an emergency situation of health and welfare,” Rep. Mast testified.
As a result, the Task Force committed to creating a working group to evaluate the water management decisions being made during dry season and the impact those decisions have on water discharges during wet season.
