Great news! This week the House of Representatives passed two pieces of legislation critical to our fight to protect our environment and clean up our waterways!
The first bill - the Save Our Seas Act 2.0 - is a piece of legislation I cosponsored to prevent, reduce and remove the staggering amount of plastic in the ocean. Our oceans need our help, and this bill is an important step towards improving our cleanup efforts.
Additionally, the House passed the America’s Conservation Enhancement Act, which reauthorizes critical wildlife conservation programs, including more than $200 million for the North American Wetlands Conservation Act and the National Fish and Wildlife Act.
These bills are now headed to President Trump to be signed into law, and I am confident that they will go a long way towards cleaning up our oceans and preserving our wetlands for generations to come!

In case you missed it, here are a few other things that happened this week:
- I released a new episode of The Tortured Coast highlighting our efforts to expedite construction of the EAA Reservoir to send the water south!
- I reflected on my family’s heritage and the lessons I learned from them to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
- I urged the Army Corps to use mechanical harvesting when managing invasive species on Lake Okeechobee.
