Supporting Our STEM Education And The Workforce
Researchers in STEM fields are vital to our country’s economic success. The breakthrough scientific discoveries from this research often improve the world in ways we could never imagine before the research started. That’s why the House of Representatives just passed five bills with my support to help our country’s next generation leaders get their foot in the door in STEM fields:
-
The Rural STEM Education Research Act directs the National Science Foundation to support research regarding STEM education in rural schools through grants and pilot programs.
-
The Supporting Early-Career Researchers Act provides grants to young researchers to carry out independent research projects at higher education institutions.
-
The STEM Opportunities Act provides grants for underrepresented groups in STEM education at institutions of higher education and at federal science agencies.
-
The MSI STEM Achievement Act will improve the quality of undergraduate STEM education and enhance research capacity at underrepresented institutions.
-
The Combating Sexual Harassment in Science Act seeks to combat sexual harassment in the STEM workforce.
These bills are a step in the right direction, and I will continue to fight for our future generation STEM leaders!
