Today is Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, and while some make a radical push to “defund the police,” the men and women in uniform need our appreciation and support more than ever before.

That’s why I cosponsored the Public Safety Enhancement Act, a bill that will allow communities to hire more officers and continue community policing initiatives.  As crime rates are skyrocketing across the country and police departments struggle to hire qualified officers, it’s clear that this bipartisan legislation is needed.

I will continue to work in Congress to back the blue, and I hope that everyone will join me in recognizing Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Across our community, there are those who leave home every day not knowing if they will come back to their families that night.  They put their safety on the line to protect ours, and we owe them a huge ‘thank you.’
