Right to Protect and Defend
When the Founding Fathers wrote the Second Amendment, they wanted to guarantee the right to protect and defend ourselves and our families. It’s an essential part of our Constitution, even if far-left activists say otherwise.
However, politicians swayed by these activists continue to move the goalposts on the National Firearms Act in an attempt to regulate and confiscate more types of guns. This includes short-barrel rifles, even though there is no data that suggests they are more dangerous than their full-size counterparts. In fact, these short-barrel rifles are better suited for home defense thanks to their easy control and use in close quarters.
These onerous restrictions make it more difficult for law-abiding Americans to defend and protect their homes and families.
That is why I am co-sponsoring the Home Defense and Competitive Shooting Act of 2023, which will remove short-barreled rifles from the definition of “firearms” under the National Firearms Act, and treat them as any other full-size rifles.
After far-left activists chanted “defund the police” and rioters looted and destroyed businesses in the summer of 2020, President Biden and his allies want to take away the right to defend ourselves. We cannot let these hypocritical politicians take away the Second Amendment right under the pretense of safety. I will continue to stand for your right to protect your families and communities.
