WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Rep. Brian Mast (FL-21) released the following statement upon his selection to chair the House Foreign Affairs Committee:

“I’m grateful and humbled by the trust my peers within the Republican Conference have placed in me by electing me the next chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Under my leadership, our committee will have a clear mission statement: Every dollar and every diplomat will put America First"

“I look forward to working with President Donald Trump, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, future Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Chairman Mario Diaz-Balart, and Speaker Mike Johnson to repair our broken foreign policy through a comprehensive State Department reauthorization.”

“Following four years of failed, misguided foreign policy decisions from the Biden-Harris Administration, President Trump will have his hands full," said Speaker Mike Johnson. "And as the newly elected Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Brian Mast will work closely with the Trump Administration to reverse American decline and restore our strength on the world stage.

“Brian has years of valuable experience on the committee, and his perspective as a distinguished combat veteran injured in the line of duty is essential in understanding the real-life implications of failed foreign policy decision-making," continued Speaker Johnson. "We congratulate Chairman Mast on this responsibility and look forward to hitting the ground running in the 119th.”
