WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Rep. Brian Mast (FL-21) released a bombshell report documenting the findings of a two-year-long probe into the ideological and unaccountable way the Biden-Harris State Department has been burning American cash overseas.

“For the entirety of the Biden-Harris administration, bleeding heart liberals at the State Department have played politics with foreign assistance,” said Rep. Mast, who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee Oversight and Accountability. “From drag shows in Ecuador to expanding atheism in Nepal to teaching basket weaving in Afghanistan, the State Department is not putting America First. It would’ve been better if they just lit the money on fire instead.”

The report, titled While Taxpayers Were Sleeping: How the State Department Exports Ideology Through Foreign Assistance, exposes numerous instances of misconduct in the State Department’s foreign assistance program. The Department’s actions jeopardize bipartisan support for foreign assistance and wastes taxpayer dollars that could otherwise be spent strategically countering America’s geopolitical adversaries. For example:

The Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration funded awards that gave cash and payments to migrants in northern Mexico who then used the money to enter the U.S. illegally. It also funded training sessions coaching migrants in Mexico on how to evade the U.S. asylum system.

Meanwhile, the Global Engagement Center routinely gave awards to organizations that worked to suppress and censor the free speech rights of citizens right here in America. The groups specifically targeted conservative groups and individuals.
