New wins for Corey VA Center
The Department of Veterans Affairs just announced $596 million will go toward improving VA facilities; the newest release of its historic $4.8 billion maintenance budget that will be improving its centers over the course of this year.
Two projects at the Thomas H. Corey VA Medical Center in West Palm Beach made the list, the first is for critical branch water modifications and the second upgrades the facility’s bathrooms for accessibility and handicap accommodations. These may seem like small facility improvements, but they’re the kind of fixes that make a huge difference when you’re the one walking through those doors.
I was proud to champion the bill that renamed the West Palm Beach VA after Thomas H. Corey—a Vietnam veteran who was paralyzed at 24 and spent the rest of his life fighting for fellow veterans in our community. Today the facility under his name is going to receive federal funds for improvements, which makes this all the more meaningful.
Already this year, more than 125,000 veterans have newly enrolled with VA healthcare, and since the beginning of 2025, 35 new VA facilities have opened—with the VA benefits backlog cut by 70 percent. Standing behind veterans with care worthy of their service is the least we can do, and the Corey VA is proof of what that looks like on the ground.
