More fraud crackdowns

For years, taxpayer dollars have been handed out without checking who is on the receiving end, letting fraud ran rampant.

Since 2003, the federal government has improperly paid out about $2.8 trillion, and somewhere between $233 billion and $521 billion is lost to fraud every single year. That’s your money—going to scammers instead of the seniors, families, and students who it was intended to help.

This week, House Republicans passed 11 bills to stop fraud across federal programs and to stop bad actors before they can get paid.

Previous Administrations operated on the "pay first, ask questions later" model, sending checks without addressing the theft until it was too late. We’re changing that—now the rule is simple: verify and confirm eligibility before a single dollar goes out.

A few of the bills we passed:

  • No Aid for Ghost Students Act — Stops scammers from using stolen or fake identities to steal federal student aid. Since 2019, more than $350 million in ‘ghost student’ fraud has been uncovered, and attempted theft topped $1 billion in 2025 alone.

  • Fraud Prevention and Accountability Act — Makes the tools that uncovered billions in suspicious spending permanent, with a dedicated watchdog focused on catching fraud and recovering stolen dollars.

  • Stopping Fraudulent Payments Act — Blocks payments flagged as high-risk before they ever leave the Treasury.

Every taxpayer dollar stolen from the government is one stolen from an American who went to work and an American who actually needs the help.

I'll keep fighting to make sure your tax dollars aren’t getting sent to  fraudsters seeking to cheat the system.
