During my time in the Army, we worked together toward a serious mission: keep Americans safe and free.

While I may no longer be an asset on the battlefield, as your Congressman, my core mission hasn't changed. Every day I go to work for you, it's with the goal of keeping Americans safe and free.

To me, this means safety from threats abroad, like Iran and North Korea, as well as safety at home by addressing issues like the opioid epidemic, scams targeting seniors and more.

The freedom I'm fighting for today includes the opportunity to improve care for our veterans and the dire need to fix the water problems plaguing our community. In short, putting country first -- people before partisanship and individual liberty before government bureaucracy.

This week, we...

• joined the Everglades Foundation Summit alongside Florida State Senate President Joe Negron, as well as other state and federal leaders, to discuss how we can work together to authorize the SB 10 southern storage reservoir, end the discharges, send the water south and clean up our waterways. • had the great opportunity to attend a ceremony at the White House honoring wounded warriors from across the country. We owe these men and women a serious debt and much better care than they’re getting now. That’s why I made it such a high priority to open a Congressional office inside the West Palm Beach VA—the first of its kind anywhere in the country.
   
• announced our office is hiring a wounded warrior fellow to expand our services to veterans in our community at the West Palm Beach VA. I know there is no shortage of qualified candidates, so if you or someone you know is interested, you can find more information here.
   
• passed three bills to hold evil foreign regimes accountable. One of the roles I take most seriously in Congress is the opportunity to be a voice for the voiceless. Too often, people around the world are persecuted because of their beliefs, religion, gender or ethnicity—we cannot afford to remain silent in the face of these crimes.
