Unfortunately, some people are trying to use the pandemic as an opportunity to take advantage of the most vulnerable in our community, resulting in an increase in scam calls nationwide.

The good news is that the House of Representatives acted this week to help prevent these scams and protect our community, including:

  • The Fraud and Scam Reduction Act to make additional anti-scam resources available to seniors through the Federal Trade Commission and prevent fraud targeting older individuals; and
  • The Combating Pandemic Scams Act to launch an awareness campaign to raise awareness for coronavirus-related scams, including mail, telemarketing and illegal robocalls.

Coronavirus has created uncertainty in our community and across the nation, which is why it is critical that we all remain vigilant. If there is anything our office can do to help, please do not hesitate to reach out for assistance at 202-225-3026.
