My wife and I have been truly blessed to bring four healthy babies into the world.  Every child and mom should be so blessed, and have the best possible start at life, but for hundreds of thousands of parents every year, that isn’t the case.

More than 383,000 babies are born preterm, or before 37 weeks, putting them at increased risk of health complications and long hospital stays.  And the rate of preemies is only increasing.  Clearly, action is needed.

That’s why the House of Representatives unanimously passed the PREEMIE Reauthorization Act of 2023 this week.  This bill is designed to help reduce preterm birth and infant mortality through research at the Department of Health and Human Services and continued education and intervention initiatives.

Seeing my kids grow up is the greatest privilege of my life, and I want to make sure that every baby is able to thrive, starting on Day 1.
