PASSED: The Veterans Equal Access Act
When I lost my legs in Afghanistan, I had to fight through the hardest physical and psychological pain of my life. I know what it means to come home from combat with wounds— both seen and unseen. And I know that I’m not alone.
Healing doesn’t follow any straight path. Those who served should have access to every available treatment, and one of these treatments is medical marijuana. But right now, veterans are being forced to choose between their VA doctor and access to medical cannabis. This is even happening here in Florida where medical cannabis is legal. That’s wrong.
That’s why I’ve co-sponsored the Veterans Equal Access Act— a bipartisan bill allowing VA doctors to recommend medical marijuana in states where it’s legal.
Veterans should be able to talk to their doctor about what’s best for them.
As a combat veteran and as co-chair of the Cannabis Caucus, I’ll keep fighting to tear down the red tape that’s blocking access to care. Our veterans served this country. The least we can do is ensure they have the tools they need to heal.
