Unacceptable Concessions from Biden
In 2015, the Obama Administration let state-sponsor of terrorism Iran off the hook, but now the Biden Administration wants to take it one step further and let designated terrorists off the hook.
You may remember that back in 2015, President Obama crafted the Iran Nuclear Deal - otherwise known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action - which emboldened our adversaries like Iran and Russia, while pushing away our ally Israel.
Fast forward to 2022, President Biden is following Obama’s footsteps and doing the same thing with even worse concessions: he is considering removing Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) from the list of terrorist organizations.
This is the same terrorist organization that, just weeks ago, took responsibility for the bombing just steps away from the U.S. consulate in Iraq. The same terrorist organization that, in 2015, participated in a plot to bomb a Georgetown restaurant. It’s insane that Biden would consider removing them from the list.
That’s why I introduced legislation to stop him. The Preventing Terrorist Sympathizers from Appeasing Terrorists Act would keep any Administration from removing the IRGC from the list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations without the consent of Congress.
President Biden has failed to put the safety of Americans and our allies first, but I will continue to hold him accountable.
