We had another productive week on Capitol Hill— we made progress on the fight to slash wasteful spending, introduced legislation to protect our waterways, to speaking with the Acting ADM of the U.S. Coast Guard about maritime safety.

This week, we kicked off the rescissions process, which is Congress’s way to reclaim taxpayer dollars that were previously allocated but no longer serve Americas’ best interest. I’m especially excited for this specific rescission package as the majority of it was wasteful spending that we identified on the Foreign Affairs Committee. We on the committee have made it a priority to root out the wasteful spending that has run rampant at the State Department and USAID under the previous administration. This rescission package now gives us a path forward to claw back billions.

I also sat in a Transportation and Infrastructure Committee hearing focused on the U.S. Coast Guard operations. I had the chance to ask Acting Commandant ADM Lunday questions on national security threats, drug migration, and thank our neighbors at the USCG Fort Pierce Station for putting their lives on the line to protect our shores— Semper Paratus! Listen to my questions here.

And on the House floor this week, I introduced three bills to continue our fight for clean water. Floridians shouldn’t have to worry about toxic water being dumped into their neighborhoods.  Learn more about the three bills here
