As a veteran myself, I’ve seen firsthand how often bloated bureaucracy fails our veterans. Every U.S. service member has made great sacrifices to our nation and it’s our responsibility to make sure they have what they need when they come home.
Now, thanks to the Trump Administration, we are improving the system. With the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill, we’re taking care of our veterans and making the Department of Veterans more efficient than ever before.
How does it protect and take care of our veterans? Let’s break it down:
QUALITY-OF-LIFE INVESTMENTS FOR VETERANS AND SERVICES MEMBERS
The One Big Beautiful bill includes billions of dollars for military quality-of-life improvements which includes enhancing barracks, healthcare, and transition programs. These upgrades benefit active-duty service members and veterans, easing the shift to civilian life with better access to job training and mental health services.
ECONOMIC RELIEF
The economic measures included in the bill empower veterans financially. A 15 percent tax cut could save veteran families up to $10,000 annually, covering housing or education costs. Older veterans gain from an expanded senior standard deduction, adding thousands to retirement income. These provisions foster economic stability, honoring veterans’ contributions as taxpayers and job creators.
PROTECTING OUR MOST VULNERABLE HEROES
The bill safeguards 100 percent disabled veterans by exempting them from Medicaid work requirements, ensuring uninterrupted healthcare. The bill also allocates $5 billion to adapt VA facilities for accessibility, adding ramps and equipment.
PROTECTION OF CORE BENEFITS
The bill preserves core benefit increases for veterans, such as VA loans and the GI Bill. These programs remain intact, ensuring veterans can access home loans with favorable terms and educational benefits to pursue higher education or vocational training.
The One Big Beautiful bill is a victory for our veterans and service members and I was proud to vote YES.
