Today, on Military Brats Day and every day, I’m proud to recognize our military children and honor the sacrifices they make. They are the unsung heroes of our armed forces.
As the son of an Army veteran and a father of four, I know firsthand what it means to be a “military brat.” That life comes with a cost. I was deployed to Afghanistan shortly after my first child, Magnum, was born. He was too young to remember it but I’ll never forget.
There are millions of children in similar situations wishing their parents could be home for birthdays, holidays, or just a normal day and family dinner. These children don’t choose the unique challenges they face.
Many give up their schools, their friends, and the comfort of the familiar because their parents took an oath to protect and serve this country. But what they gain is remarkable: a deep strength, the ability to adapt, and a sense of pride knowing they are part of America’s legacy of military service.
Our nation sees you and we will not forget your dedication.
