Welcome Home

It was a long-awaited return last night as our brave astronauts splashed down into the Gulf of America.

When NASA astronauts, Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore, arrived at the International Space Station in June, they expected to stay for maybe a few weeks. Instead, they spent an unexpected nine months in space after issues with their Boeing Starliner prevented their return.

Finally, they made their way home this week.

This successful mission is a great example of the way private industry and NASA can work together to accomplish important missions for the betterment of the U.S. and create healthy competition in the industry.

A strong private sector is essential to America's economy. It drives job creation, advances innovation, and enhances national security by reducing reliance on foreign resources. And in this case, it reunites families after nearly a year of missed birthdays and anniversaries.

Welcome home, Suni and Butch, I’m thrilled to see you back with your family and friends here on earth.
