This morning, I joined Mornings with Maria on Fox Business to talk about the ongoing government shutdown and the glaring difference in values between Republicans and Democrats on display right now. 

It’s simple: Republicans are fighting to protect safety, common sense and to make sure law enforcement officers get paid, while Democrats are fighting to protect reckless spending, illegal healthcare, and to oppose President Trump at all costs. 

These are my priorities: 

• Protecting our safety and essential services: I talked about the real-world impacts of this shutdown. If FAA air traffic controllers aren’t working, the strain on the system becomes a serious public safety concern. It’s why the Administration is working around the clock to ensure that critical operations—like FAA staffing—stay functional and safe.

• Finding every dollar to keep families supported: While Democrats play games, Republicans are finding ways to keep critical benefits funded, like WIC (Women, Infants, and Children). We’re identifying every available dollar, including tariff revenues, to make sure families continue receiving the support they depend on.

• The difference in values couldn’t be clearer: Democrats are pushing for an additional $1.5 trillion in spending. Meanwhile, Republicans are solely focused on getting our bipartisan continuing resolution (CR) passed by the Senate and sent to President Trump’s desk so we can end this shutdown.  

I’ll keep fighting for fiscal responsibility, public safety, working families—because that’s what I was sent here to do.
