Everyone who calls the Treasure Coast ‘home’ knows that water is essential to our way of life and what makes Florida so great.  So when a corporation like Brightline comes to town and tries to disrupt that way of life, our community shows up in full force.

That’s what happened over the summer: more than 2,300 residents shared their opinion on the U.S. Coast Guard’s proposed rule for the St. Lucie River Railroad Bridge.  Then, Coast Guard Rear Admiral Brendan McPherson came to see the issue firsthand and hundreds showed up to make their voices heard.  I’m always proud to represent the Treasure Coast, but I was especially proud on that day.

Since then, my team and I have gone through every single comment so that we know exactly what the community thinks.
