This week President Biden announced he would be withdrawing the 10,000 remaining U.S. troops from Afghanistan by September 11th, the 20th anniversary of the attacks that first initiated the war.
I have long believed that it is well past time for the United States to withdraw our troops from Afghanistan. I supported President Trump’s efforts to bring troops home, and I agree with President Biden's decision also.
We also made progress on several other issues this week:
The House passed the Protecting Seniors from Emergency Scams Act and the Fraud Scam Reduction Act. These bills will help improve efforts to prevent exploitation of America's seniors and by directing the Federal Trade Commission to address scams targeting seniors during the coronavirus pandemic and help victims get compensation.
I introduced the National Estuaries and Acidification Research (NEAR) Act, a bipartisan piece of legislation that aims to fight coastal acidification while helping waterways like the St. Lucie River, Indian River Lagoon, and Lake Worth Lagoon.
