Helping Small Businesses Safely Reopen
Small businesses in our community have been hit hard by the devastating impacts of coronavirus. For months, countless business owners were told to do something that they’ve never been told before: don’t go to work.
Now, as businesses begin a phased reopening across Florida, it is absolutely critical that we do more to help them open their doors in a way that is safe for everyone. That’s why I introduced the bipartisan Helping Businesses Reopen Safely Act.
This legislation would help small businesses recover from the impacts of coronavirus by providing a tax credit to small businesses, nonprofits and local governments of up to $25,000 annually to purchase personal protective equipment (PPE) and other supplies that are critical in mitigating the spread of COVID-19.
My hope is that this legislation will go a long way towards mitigating the financial burden of reopening while also protecting public health in our community. As always, I will keep you updated on our progress as I fight to get this passed in the House!
