As a soldier, and again as your Representative in Congress, I took an oath to protect and defend our nation, and our Constitution, against all enemies, foreign and domestic.  This week in Congress, we considered several policies to uphold that oath and protect the United States against foreign enemies.

First up, in the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight and Accountability, we talked about another crucial tool in our fight against China: export controls.  Ensuring American technology doesn’t fall into the hands of the CCP is a matter of national security.  We need to ensure that our troops’ weapons and equipment are the best in the world and capable of destroying any enemy.  That doesn’t work if Chinese troops have the same capabilities.

Then, on the House Floor, we voted on H.R. 2, the Securing Our Border Act.  Title 42 ended this week, and Customs and Border Patrol agents are bracing for a surge of migrants at the southern border.  While the Biden Administration has failed to act, the House passed legislation to combat illegal immigration and secure our southern border.
