The Series Will Highlight the People and Places Being Destroyed by Toxic Discharges
Stuart, Fla. – U.S. Congressman Brian Mast (FL-18) today announced that he will be producing a new documentary series, titled The Tortured Coast. The series will highlight the human and environmental toll from the toxic Lake Okeechobee discharges: business being forced to shut down, people getting sick, animals dying and critical habitats being destroyed.
“There is a massive human and environmental toll from the discharges to the Treasure Coast. For decades, special interests have been prioritized over human health and safety. And it's turning the Treasure Coast into the Tortured Coast,” Rep. Mast said. “There's a real disconnect between the people in Tallahassee, the people in Washington, D.C. and the people who are forced to live with the damaging consequences of Lake Okeechobee discharges. To fix the problem, we must force the people in power to see the consequences of their actions.”
Rep. Mast also released a trailer for the series:
The first episode will be released on Thursday, July 5, 2018. Those interested can sign up to get the first episode sent to them at www.mast.house.gov/torturedcoast.
