WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Brian Mast (FL-21) commemorated and honored Trooper Zachary Fink, who lost his life in service nearly one year ago. Rep. Mast reintroduced legislation to rename the Post Office building located at 290 NW Peacock Boulevard in Port St. Lucie, FL, in honor of Trooper Fink. The introduction coincides with Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, a national holiday recognizing the service and sacrifice of those who join the thin blue line.
“Our community lost one of Florida’s finest last year,” said Rep. Mast. “We cannot repay his sacrifice, but we can ensure his memory lives on. Trooper Fink’s bravery and selflessness should inspire us all. He is a hero and should never be forgotten.”
On February 2, 2024, Trooper Fink was tragically killed in the line of duty while pursuing Michael A. Addison, a fleeing felon with a history of burglary, grand theft, aggravated assault, and over $1,000 in traffic fines.
“It is my hope that dedicating this facility in his honor will preserve his legacy for generations to come,” Rep. Mast continued. “Trooper Fink dedicated his life to making our community a safer place. He will be remembered as someone people could count on, a natural comedian who could de-escalate tense situations, and a hero deeply proud of his fellow law enforcement officers.”
