WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Brian Mast (FL-21) today introduced the Improving Veterans Access to Congressional Services Act of 2025. This legislation would enable Members of Congress to utilize facilities operated by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to hold office hours and meet with veteran constituents. Casework teams frequently assist veterans with issues ranging from claims with the VA to a problem with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
“When we opened an office in the West Palm Beach VA back in 2017, we created a one-stop-shop for veterans who needed our help cutting through red tape,” said Rep. Brian Mast. “This is a proven model that improves care for veterans in our community, and thanks to VA Secretary Doug Collins, we’re back in business. But let’s take it one step further: this shouldn’t just be an option for veterans in Palm Beach – veterans across the country deserve this same kind of care and assistance. That’s what this bill is about.”
Congressman Mast opened the first-ever congressional office housed in a VA facility in 2017. In the roughly two years that Congressman Mast held office hours in the West Palm VA Medical Center, over 500 veterans took advantage of the opportunity to meet with the congressman and members of his team. Many of these veterans suffered from mobility issues that made traveling to a separate office difficult. Unfortunately, in 2019, the Department of Veterans Affairs evicted Congressman Mast and two other Members who were utilizing the space. The office has now been re-opened and will be staffed by members of Congressman Mast’s office. The VA office will be open starting April 8th and it will be staffed every Tuesday and Thursday thereafter. Operating hours are 9:00am - 3:00pm.
